Here’s the soundscape to my poem ‘Real at Last’. This was the result of a collaboration between myself and sound artist Chris Renshaw. The project was supported by MediaActive, and funded through their Creative Conversations project, with thanks to Vibrant Shropshire, and The Inclusive Communities Fund awarded through the Heart of England Community Foundation.
The poem was published in my book ‘The Bicycles of Ice and Salt‘ (IDP, 2021), and is about escaping to France on a bicycle when I was twenty. Chris really captured the sense of adventure of those days. And you can hear a bicycle freewheeling, the church bells, the frost…
I love it! Do let me know what you think.
